Sleeping Beauty - Pyjama Style for Men

Men keep safe in Morpheus’ arms.
The pyjama style is a cyclical and recurring trend in the fashion world that now revives again.
If the social networks get us used to break down the barriers between public and private spaces, and they also teach us that the image prevails against the essence, it is better to enjoy the playful aspect of this matter, wearing the luxury and aesthetic of home comfort as a passe-partout. Silk, stripes, dots and tiny geometric patterns become stardust to be very close to the land of dreams, both day and night.

Cast Back: Maurizio Cattelan VS Terry Richardson

In 1991 the well-known contemporary artist Maurizio Cattelan, also famous for his irreverent gestures, decided to capsize the direction of the art fruition. He hung with huge stripes of grey adhesive tape on the art gallery wall, not the work, but the one who proposes and sells it, in this case Massimo De Carlo. An art supporter victim of the system that he himself nourishes.
Tony Ward for Sergio K. spring-summer 2013 campaign is in the same sacrificial act. He may appear as a histrionic martyr or a consenting masochist who smiles mockingly to fashion and its sometimes-perverted mechanics.

Polaroid camera is a collector’s item for the restless photography lovers. Its instantaneous nature made it an irreplaceable instrument for the professionals in the field, and the great fashion photographer Helmut Newton was one of them too. These images were born as a preliminary act and guide for the final shot, but we consider them as separate, in an era far from the digital one when developing a photograph used to be a real art with an alchemic taste.
This is a catalogue lacking an in-depth textus receptus about the theme and author, and consequently this reduces the value and appeal for the purchaser. It remains anyway a rich visual repertoire of Newton’s work. Those who are waiting for an indiscreet peek about the most famous fashion editorials’ backstage will be disappointed, as the Polaroid shots don’t differ that much from the final ones, fully resembling the glossy and glamorous world in every flawless instant.

Like the ocean echo from a shell, the fashion world promises an endless summer. It is not the roar of the storm waves that you are hearing far away, but the giddy slosh of crystal clear waters, populated by iridescent fishes, corals, lobsters and small whales. The man, who is captured by the beauty of this submerged and lively world, wears clothes and accessories that become surreal charms to float lightly between the sea and sky.
