Louis Vuitton Secret Places: Venice – Day 1 - Focus on Fabrizio Plessi

Flussi d’arte, moda e web. A trasportarci letteralmente per i lidi dell’arte contemporanea è Louis Vuitton, con un incontro d’eccezione: Fabrizio Plessi. Celebre video-artista italiano di fama mondiale, che fa della mobilità dell’acqua e del fuoco lo strumento privilegiato delle sue installazioni. Primo approdo è la 54ª edizione della Biennale d’arte, per la visita all’opera di Plessi “Mari Verticali”, realizzata per Vuitton. Un emiciclo di snelle imbarcazioni sospese, proiettate verso l’alto come digitali guglie gotiche o austeri monoliti zen, all’interno dei quali scorrono in video i bagliori e gli scintillii delle acque del mondo. Ancestrali fenditure di un’anima collettiva e globale che si offrono come processo e memoria del viaggio, il DNA stesso della maison Vuitton.
Ma i percorsi dell’arte continuano e passando dal pubblico al privato giungiamo allo studio personale di Plessi. Un ampio loft con bozzetti, schizzi e progetti visti nel loro stato primigenio. Tra le opere presenti anche la borsa elettronica con logo in movimento, prodotta per Vuitton in occasione dell’apertura dello store ad Hong Kong.
Un incontro unico dove la fluidità degli elementi naturali, l’immaterialità del pulviscolo video e la virtualità del web sono diventate le energiche correnti per veicolare la solida e tangibile eredità del lusso e della bellezza Vuitton.

Art, fashion and web flow together. Louis Vuitton literally led us to contemporary art shores, with an exceptional meeting: Fabrizio Plessi. This world-renowned Italian video artist uses water and fire’s mobility as privileged tool for his installations. Our first stop was at the 54th edition of Art Biennale to see Plessi’s work “Vertical Seas”, realized for Vuitton. It is a semi cycle of hanging slender boats, which are oriented towards the sky as if they were digital Gothic steeples or austere Zen monoliths. On the inside they have uninterrupted videos with the dazzling and sparkling waters of the world. Moreover they can represent ancestral fissures with a collective and global soul as part of the process and memory of the journey, which reflects the DNA of Vuitton brand.
But the art paths continued and going from public to private we arrived at Plessi’s personal studio, which is a wide loft with sketches, outlines and projects seen at their primigenial state. Among all the works there is also the electronic bag with shifting logo, expressly produced for the opening of the Vuitton store in Hong Kong.
A unique meeting where the fluidity of natural elements, the video immateriality and the web virtuality become strong commons to spread the solid and touchable heritage of Vuitton’s luxury and beauty.
