The Noble Garden

Arcadia, paradise lost, a place of loves destined to delight. The garden, which in the Eighteenth century was the favoured scenario to arouse emotions and fictional novels, becomes the current setting for new trends and passions.
D&G arranged an open-air picnic on its spring-summer 2011 catwalk, with upper class young men pleased in a vernal déjeuner sur l'herbe. But for the following seasons gardeners, flower growers, horticulturists, landowners and nature lovers are definitely the ones to show their savoir-faire.
Junya Watanabe and Bespoken choose overalls to show a rural world of hard work and pragmatism, maintaining a typical English sense of style. Jeremy Scott imagines an athletic boy with dungarees, against the rigours of bourgeois respectability, as the genuine gamekeeper in “Lady Chatterley’s Lover”. On the other hand Thom Browne renders a darker version of the overalls, ideal for a steampunk scientist. JW Anderson for Topman Lens and Marlon Gobel pay tribute to encyclopaedic knowledge, bringing back a flamboyant vegetation on fabrics. Stefano Ughetti for CAMO gets his inspiration from Biella’s nature and waters, with an almost photographic accuracy. Lastly Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy looks at the tropics and the paradise flower carries him away, becoming the central theme of his prints.
It could be useful to remember that in September Electa in collaboration with Acqua di Parma published “Noble Garden: Italian Landscape Design”, which is a book about 13 masterpieces able to embody the essence of Italian garden. And if you do not know how to start creating your own charming world, we have got a key for you: www.princejardinier.com

During the festivities every family gathers under the same roof varied people, who share the same blood, but usually different characters or style. So the male fashion creates “custom-made” clothes for each human typology.
For the traditionalist, who looks for the old black and white movies’ charm, there are Dunhill, Ermenegildo Zegna, Dolce & Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli and Tommy Hilfiger.
For the rearing young, who comes from the big city, it will be enough to choose a formal suit to go with an immaculate and fully buttoned shirt as shown by Givenchy and Gazzarrini. Or with a simple low-necked t-shirt as seen at Emporio Armani and Neil Barrett’s fashion shows.
For the sportsman, who doesn’t want to part with a ski run to greet the New Year’s dawn, there are Emporio Armani and D&G with snow boots and moonboots.
For the man with a bohemian soul it is better to slink into Paul Smith’s wardrobe, which is rich of old-fashioned bowler hats.
For the eccentric one there are Lanvin and Tim Hamilton’s precious suits, which revisit the classic ones with technical fabrics and gemstones.
For the one who doesn’t believe in bad luck it is irresistible Gucci’s bold violet.
For the rocker it comes in aid Bespoken with a grunge jacket and a wide hat.
For the guy who doesn’t want to loose his own identity there is Band of Outsiders that let him keep cap and gloves with street reminiscences.
And for the man who doesn’t like to be constricted in a blazer the most elegant outfits are those of Perry Ellis, Viktor & Rolf and Michael Bastian.
