Lontani i giorni in cui si divideva tra parrucchiere e cerette come un inebetito Narciso, il maschio contemporaneo tira fuori gli attributi, superando i clichè. Jean Paul Gaultier e Katie Eary gli infilano i guantoni e lo mettono alla prova. Dolce & Gabbana invece va oltre e fa dei campioni della boxe i suoi nuovi eroi, diventando lo sponsor ufficiale di un club al quale hanno legato il loro nome: il Dolce & Gabbana Thunder Italian Boxing Team. Del 2009 è il film “The Boxer” con All Ben Wilson, mentre del 2010 è “The Fighter” con Mark Wahlberg e Christian Bale. Di prossima uscita per la Rai “Un pugno un bacio” di Angelo Longoni, con Luca Argentero che interpreterà il famoso Tiberio Mitri, e "Southpaw" con Eminem. Un risveglio della virilità, esaltata attorno agli anni trenta dagli erculei modelli dei quadri di Bruce Sargeant e dalle monumentali statue dello Stadio dei Marmi a Roma, e oggi esibita dalla suadente gioventù delle fotografie di Sam Scott Schiavo.
