by Steven Klein for VMAN 23- 2011

“The veil is one of the most recurrent symbols in the history of the culture. The mystery and the elsewhere appear through its bodiless materiality, embodying both spirituality and carnality. A seductive and uncanny epiphany, an initiation for what there is here and beyond life. The veil is the edge”, wrote Roberto Carretta. A clear and poetic vision, that can be connected with transparencies in general, which are sheer and impalpable fabrics, vanishing and soft like clouds, now common element of menswear equally to needle-and-thread. These subtle textures become amniotic fluid of a body that got lost with the decline of the Greco-Roman civilization. After being hidden or shown through garments, nowadays the masculine sensuality reveals itself, laid bare with a born again awareness.
