After the storm...

Ci sono momenti in cui oltrepassi i traguardi prefissati e ti ritrovi in un limbo. La tua vita fino a quel momento è stata un’instancabile, estenuante corsa per raggiungere l’obiettivo. Poi, come un atleta dopo una lunga maratona, ti pieghi e appoggi le mani alle ginocchia. Respiri… Finalmente riempi i polmoni d’aria. Racimoli le ultime forze per alzare di nuovo la schiena e alzare le braccia al cielo. Ti lasci abbracciare dagli applausi e dai flash delle foto di rito. Ce l’hai fatta!!! Ma cosa succede dopo, quando a casa da solo ammiri i tuoi trofei splendenti e ti guardi indietro? Cerchi di capire se ne è valsa la pena. Se le scelte che hai fatto sono state quelle giuste. Io fino a qualche giorno fa ero in questa fase dell’esistenza. Ma un evento inaspettato ha fatto chiarezza. Un controllo medico per togliermi un dubbio, così giusto per spuntarlo via dai pensieri, e vengo catapultato in chirurgia d’emergenza. Scopro che durante molti viaggi di lavoro, tutte quelle volte che il dolore serpeggiava subdolo e familiare nel mio corpo, funzionavo con un solo polmone… Così ho compreso che se fino ad ora ho lavorato con tale tenacia e caparbietà, provando così tanto sofferenza e fatica, mentendo a me stesso e agli altri sul mio stato di salute..be’, allora forse la strada che ho percorso è stata segnata sicuramente da una eccesiva dose di incoscienza, ma soprattutto da tanta passione.
Ora a pochi giorni da due settimane intense per la moda maschile vi scrivo dall’ospedale, dopo una settimana di convalescenza. Oggi spero mi dimetteranno in tempo per partire per Pitti a Firenze, con punti ben nascosti e vestito di un bel sorriso sulle labbra, incentivato da due importanti collaborazioni: Fondazione Pitti Discovery e Style.it
Ma le sorprese non finiscono qui… STAY TUNED!

Colgo l'occasione per ringraziare chi mi ha sostenuto in questi giorni difficili.

There are moments in life during which you exceed your limits and you find yourself in limbo. Your life up to that moment has been a tireless, exhausting race against time to reach your own goals. Then you bend forward and put your hands on the ground, as an athlete does after a long marathon. You breathe… Finally you fill your lungs with oxygen. You gather your latest forces to pick yourself up and to fling your arms in the air. A round of applause and flashes surround you. You’ve made it!!! But what does it happen when once at home you admire your shining trophies and you look back? You try to understand if that is worth all your sacrifices, if you have made the right choice. I was in that phase of life until a few days ago, but an unexpected event clarified all. A medical examination to remove a doubt turned out an emergency surgery. I found out that during many business trips, all those times I felt an insidious and well-known pain in my body, I was going on with one lung only… So I understood that if I’ve been working so hard up to now, resisting with all my strength of will, lying to myself and to the others too about my state of health… well, maybe the path I’ve been following is surely driven by an extreme dose of recklessness, but above all by a lot of passion.
A few days before two hectic weeks for menswear fashion, I’m writing you from the hospital after a week of convalescence. Hopefully today they will discharge me in time to leave for Pitti in Florence, with well-hidden stitches and ready to smile again, well-supported by two important collaborations: Fondazione Pitti Discovery and Style.it
But the surprises are not over yet… STAY TUNED!
