Louis Vuitton Secret Places: Venice - Day 2: Manifacture de Souliers Fiesso d'Artico

We are in the middle of the Brenta River, surrounded by nature and famous Palladian Villas that lead us to one of the most important Italian centres of shoes production: Fiesso d’Artico. Louis Vuitton decided to open here its Manufacture.
The managing director Patrice Guillemin and the head of menswear shoes department Massimo Carta receive us. As we cross the threshold of the factory, a glamorous version of the Stendhal syndrome carries us away. The scent of the leathers embraces the sense of smell, while the artisans’ rhythmical movements capture the eyesight, with their sewing, cutting, polishing and dyeing, as in a cyclic and stately ritual. Meanwhile the heart goes together with the tools of the trade’s syncopated sounds, which end to recall the melody of Bjork’s “Cvalda”. During this ecstatic journey, we discover Vuitton’s latest project: the personalizable men shoes, which will be launched on September 21st, in Milan. The time required to make them is 12 weeks. Their strong point is the variation of the classic Norwegian stitch, as a detail of style. And after the patient waiting, you will have at your feet the equivalent of a Ferrari.
